Integration of STIS activities into Belspo (Federal Science Policy Office)
On the proposal of the Secretary of State for Science Policy, Thomas Dermine, the Council of Ministers has approved a draft Royal Decree on the dissolution of the Scientific and Technical Information Service (STIS) as a separately managed government department
The STIS was established in 1997 within the Federal Science Policy Office as a separately managed government service. The activities were integrated into the Monitoring Research & Innovation service of the Federal Science Policy Office, a service to which various actors can turn for all matters concerning research statistics in Belgium. The STIS will continue to manage ongoing European projects that will end by 31 December 2023 at the latest.
Therefore, the service will be dissolved on 31 December 2023 in accordance with the Law of 15 January 2019. The rights and duties as well as the furniture and equipment of the STIS will be transferred to the Federa Decrees establishing the service and laying down the organic rules for the financial and material management of the service will be repealed.
The draft is submitted to the King for signature.
